One thing that may have happened if your remote control does not seem to work is that the wrong camera is selected on the remote. 
Check that the correct camera is selected from the one of the four "Camera Select" buttons located at the top of the remote control.

(1 is default)
The selected "Camera Select" button lights up when pressing other buttons.
